1. Auction Vehicle Listings
Vehicles listed on the Moku website are sourced from Japanese vehicle auctions. These listings allow customers in New Zealand to view vehicles currently available for bidding in Japan.
Because auctions operate in real time:
- Vehicles may sell before a request is processed
- Auction availability may change without notice
Moku cannot guarantee that a listed vehicle will remain available
2. Estimated Pricing
Prices displayed on the Moku website represent estimated final prices only.
The estimated price may include:
- Auction purchase price
- Export handling costs
- Shipping to New Zealand
- Import duties and taxes
- Compliance and certification costs
- On-road costs (ORC)
Actual final prices may vary depending on the auction result.
3. Auction Sheets and Vehicle Condition
Vehicle information is based on inspection reports and auction sheets provided by Japanese auction houses.
These reports typically include:
- Auction grading
- Interior and exterior condition
- Known damage or repairs
- Mileage verification
Auction inspections are generally visual inspections conducted by professional inspectors.
However, these inspections are not full mechanical inspections, and they may not identify all mechanical, electrical, or technical issues.
Auction sheets may not reveal the full condition of components such as:
- Engine performance
- Transmission condition
- Electronic systems
- Hybrid systems
- Future mechanical reliability
Customers should understand that purchasing vehicles through auctions involves some level of risk.
4. Auction Grade Disclaimer
Auction grades are assigned by individual auction houses in Japan to provide a general indication of a vehicle’s visible condition.
While auction grades can help guide buyers, they:
- Are subjective assessments
- May vary between auction houses
- Do not guarantee mechanical condition or future reliability
For example:
| Auction Grade | General Meaning |
|---|---|
| 5 | Near new condition |
| 4.5 | Very good condition |
| 4 | Good condition |
| 3.5 | Average condition |
| 3 | Lower condition / higher wear |
| R / RA | Accident history |
Auction grades are intended as a general guide only and should not be interpreted as a mechanical warranty.
5. Risk Mitigation
To help customers make informed decisions, Moku:
- Provides original auction sheets where available
- May provide translations of auction reports
- Recommends higher auction grades where possible
- Ensures vehicles undergo compliance inspection in New Zealand before registration
- May assist customers in arranging independent mechanical inspections after arrival
All imported vehicles must meet compliance requirements set by the Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.
6. Auction Bidding
Customers may request Moku to place bids on their behalf.
Submitting a request does not guarantee the vehicle will be secured.
Auction results depend on bidding activity and reserve prices.
7. Mechanical Risk
Vehicles purchased through Japanese auctions are generally sold as-is.
Moku cannot guarantee the mechanical condition of auction vehicles.
If a significant issue is identified after the vehicle arrives in New Zealand, Moku may assist the customer in arranging inspections or repairs depending on the situation.
8. Import and Compliance
All vehicles imported through Moku must meet New Zealand vehicle compliance requirements, including standards administered by the Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency.
The import and compliance process may involve:
- Biosecurity inspection
- Compliance certification
- Registration and licensing
These processes may affect delivery timelines.
9. Shipping and Delivery Timing
Shipping schedules depend on shipping line availability, port processing, and inspection timelines.
Estimated delivery dates are provided for guidance only and cannot be guaranteed.
10. No Guarantee of Auction Outcome
Moku cannot guarantee:
- That a vehicle will be secured at auction
- That the final auction price will match the estimate
- That auction vehicles will remain available until bidding time
11. Customer Responsibility
Customers are responsible for reviewing all available vehicle information, including:
- Auction sheets
- Vehicle grading
- Estimated costs
- Import process details
If you are unsure about any vehicle or auction details, we encourage you to contact our team before placing a bidding request.
